In Destin we require you to have a house, condo, townhouse, or hotel on the Gulf of Mexico. We come to you and perform your ceremony there. There are several advantages to doing this. It much easier on the bride. Also you limit the number of strangers who have access to your wedding. Before you place your deposit on your lodging make sure you can have your wedding there. Please ask before you make your reservations.
Some condos charge fees for you to use their beach and this would be something you would be responsible for. If the condo does charge a fee, ask what you will receive for the fee. Some condos charge fees and will not clear the beach or set up an area for you to have your wedding on.
Remember the larger resorts and taller condominiums will have more people on a small area of the beach at your wedding. Go for smaller condominiums or a house. You'll be alot happier by making this decision.
The public access areas are very limited in Destin and don't have enough parking for large groups. If your group is 10 or under there are public access areas we can go to at sunset for packages with no decorations. The public access areas aren't very wide and home owners in this area own the beach to the high tide water mark. Some are tolerant and some aren't. If you trepass on their property they can have you removed.
Public parks get very crowded in spring and summer, especially on Saturdays. Wedding companies use them and sometimes there are as many as 5 or more weddings going on at the same time in a very small area. Guests get lost, not knowing which wedding to go to. The weddings don't start at the same time so some brides are in the middle of their vows and a few yards away another wedding is getting over and people are clapping and cheering while just a few yards further there's a bride walking down the aisle to music. For this reason we don't go to public parks. Where's the romance? This is why we recommend you get a house, condo, townhouse or hotel. Houses and townhouses are your best picks.
Please be aware that Destin is a large tourist destination area and traffic can be difficult in the spring and summer. Plan ahead. If you are looking for a more intimate area you may want to consider Navarre and Pensacola Beach. These areas are smaller and have beaches where there are no buildings in the background.
